Full squad of 17 cyclists announced for Glasgow 2026

An impressive 17-strong cycling line-up has been selected to represent Team Scotland at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, which get under way in 49 days’ time.

Olympic medallist and two-time World champion Neah Evans spearheads the newly announced cohort of 13 cyclists joining the pre-selected quartet of Lauren Bell and Mark Stewart, and para cyclists Neil Fachie MBE and Fin Graham.

The first Scottish cyclist to win three medals at a single Commonwealth Games, Evans will be looking to add to her Games haul of three silver and two bronze medals, and at a home Games in the velodrome where she first got on a track bike following Glasgow 2014.

She is joined by double-Birmingham 2022 medallist Ellie Stone, who makes the move from para cycling pilot for Aileen McGlynn four years ago, to the sprint events in Glasgow this year. Her Birmingham teammate Iona Moir, World Championship silver medallist in 2025 as part of the GB Team Sprint also makes the team.

A further ten athletes make their Commonwealth debuts including four-time World Junior champion Erin Boothman, 2026 European gold medallist Kate Richardson and Michael Gill, a former age-group World Champion in Acrobatic Gymnastics turned two-time European medallist on the track.

2023 Commonwealth Youth Games medallist Elliott Rowe makes the step up to the senior team and another former Youth Games competitor is also named, Maddy Silcock completing the transition from athletics track at Bahamas 2017 to track cycling at Glasgow 2026.

Also named for his first Commonwealth Games is Logan Maclean, who has fought back from sustaining a broken back in a crash in 2021 to win a medal on his World Cup track debut this April. Sticking with the endurance events, Tim Shoreman makes the grade following a European Championship debut earlier this year, as does Lewis Askey, who having declared for Scotland last year, will mix his track ambitions with his road career, having completed all three Grand Tours.

In the Men’s Sprint, Lyall Craig will make his Games debut having come through Glasgow Track Racing Club, whilst Aaron Pope has been named a pilot for Neil Fachie on the tandem.

Congratulating those selected, Scottish Cycling’s Head of Performance & Coaching, David Somerville said:

“It’s a special honour to represent Scotland at a Commonwealth Games, and I know to do so at a home Games will make it even more special for each one of our riders. Congratulations to all 17 athletes, their families and support networks who have got them to this point.

“Whilst today is an exciting milestone, I know our riders have high aspirations and will be using the next 49 days to ensure they arrive in Glasgow, on their home track, in the best possible shape to contend for medals.”

Kate Richardson will make her debut in Glasgow, and said of selection:

“It’s been something I’ve been eyeing up since it was announced that it would be in Glasgow. You imagine it, but you don’t want to imagine it too much in case it doesn’t happen, so it’s a massive relief to be selected and it’s going to be a really proud moment for sure.

“We’ve got a really strong female endurance team with Erin and Neah – Neah has the experience with Olympic and World medals, and Erin is just meteorically stepping up to the seniors, so we’re definitely going there with the intention of medalling – you can’t go to home Games without that being the intention!”

Team Scotland’s Chef de Mission, Elinor Middlemiss MBE, said:

“I’m delighted to see such a strong cycling squad named to Team Scotland for a home Commonwealth Games this summer. Our squad brings together Olympic, Paralympic, World and Commonwealth medallists alongside a number of exciting athletes who will be making their Commonwealth Games debut.

“With under 50 days to go, Team Scotland is really taking shape and I’m looking forward to seeing them compete in front of a strong Scottish support in Glasgow.”
