Scottish Cycling seeking two board directors to join our team

Scottish Cycling is looking to increase both the experience and diversity of its Board of Directors by appointing two further members this spring.

Whilst we have a good mix of skills and experience, we would like to further strengthen our board over the coming months and sustain gender parity. Specifically, we are seeking a lawyer, ideally with charity expertise, to support the activities of the Scottish Cycling Charitable Foundation.  We are also seeking a further individual with a business development or commercial background. As part of this process, we are also considering candidates that could potentially replace our current appointed chair who will finish their term of office in November 2027.

Whilst a passion for cycling is preferred, our primary focus is ensuring our Board of Directors has the correct mix of skills, life experiences and diversity to represent our community and ensure Scottish Cycling continues to go from strength to strength.

Scottish Cycling is the governing body for cycle sport in Scotland, its remit ranging from the playground to the podium and everything in between. Guided by its organisational strategy, Developing a Nation of Cyclists 2.0, the organisation looks to grow the number of people riding bikes, taking part in events and achieving success on the world stage.

Aside from our normal business of supporting the sport, our clubs and members Scottish Cycling has some fantastic opportunities with the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow where we will have a number of athletes competing on the track. In July 2027 we have the Tour de France Grand Depart in Edinburgh where we are working with various delivery partners, local authorities and Scottish Government on a multi-year social impact programme to bring the joy of cycling to a wider audience across Scotland.  This builds on our existing work through our Rock Up & Ride programme ensuring under-represented communities get the chance to take part in cycling and our Women & Girls Strategy, which aims to shift the dial on female participation.

Our staff team continue to do a fantastic job of serving our membership and community, recognised as we picked up the Governing Body of the Year in 2023 at the Scottish Sports Awards, and our Board of Directors plays a key role in ensuring we are pedalling in the right direction
