Woven in History, Designed for Medals – Scottish cycling kit for Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games unveilled

Team Scotland hopefuls Logan Maclean and Maddy Silcock unveiled the striking new Commonwealth kit at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome.

The cycling events for the 2026 Commonwealth Games are now one step closer with the unveiling of the Team Scotland cycling kit for this summer’s Games.

The kit, supplied by long-term Scottish Cycling partner Impsport, delivers a contemporary take on a traditional Scotland jersey, the saltire taking centre stage, but accompanied by a flash of pink.

A shift from the predominantly white kit used at the Birmingham 2022 and Gold Coast 2018 Games’, the new kit has a dark blue base with an ombre gradient featuring a lighter blue, overlayed with a white saltire across the torso. The iconic Team Scotland thistle is replicated in a subtle repeating pattern across the lower half of the jersey.

Designed by Edinburgh-based design agency Brand Oath, the jerseys offer the Scottish identifiers that an international audience will expect, but without cliches.

Team Scotland hopefuls Logan Maclean and Maddy Silcock unveiled the striking kit at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome, which is the host venue for cycling at this summer’s games.

Maclean, from Stirling, is aiming to make his Team Scotland debut at this summer’s Games, following on from a recent bronze medal at the Track World Cup in Hong Kong.

“It looks amazing! It’s so Scottish, the saltire, the Team Scotland logos; the team behind it have done such a good job designing it. It means a lot to unveil this new kit. I get goosebumps thinking about the Games, when I’m training it’s what I’m thinking about. The finish line for me isn’t just being selected, it will be to cross that white line this August.”

Glasgow-based track sprinter Maddy Silcock, who is a recent convert from athletics, added:

“I love it. I just love the bright colours, I really like the pink on the collar and leg, and all of the tiny little details, like the little thistles and the ombre. It would mean a lot to be selected and get the chance to pull this on at the Commonwealth Games. I started off in athletics, and went to the Commonwealth Youth Games, so this would be a full-circle moment.”

Bernie Shaw-Binns, Managing Director of Brand Oath, said:

“Seeing it in the flesh for the first time, on the back of a rider, I’m delighted – it’s surpassed my expectations, and I had high hopes! We went through quite a rigorous design process with Scottish Cycling, consulting with the athletes along the way. So, we knew we were on the right track, but to see it today, and see the positives from the athletes, I’m delighted.

“I think it’s important in terms of design and sport that the athletes feel good in what they’re wearing because anecdotally, speaking to various athletes over the years, they’ve all said how important it is to feel good on competition day, feel comfortable and ready to go. So if our design can, even in a small incremental way, increase the performance on competition day, then that will be amazing.”

Peter Merrick, Managing Director of Impsport, added:

“We’ve obviously seen the design on a screen, and then when it comes off the machine, but when it’s brought to life properly, is when it’s on the body of an athlete, and at that point it makes everything we do worthwhile – I think it looks great. We’re incredibly proud to be supplying the Scottish riders at another Commonwealth Games – we know the kit we’re supplying is fast and we can’t wait to see them perform in front of a home crowd this summer.”

Five cyclists have already secured their place as part of Team Scotland for Glasgow 2026. Paris Olympians Katie Archibald MBE, Mark Stewart and Lauren Bell joining para-cycling champions Neil Fachie OBE and Fin Graham MBE as those already aiming for medals at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome this summer.

However, Maclean, Silcock and a whole host of other riders will be waiting on bated breath, with the final cycling team for the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games unveiled at the end of May.
