Scottish Cycling Code of Conduct

  • Treat all others as you would like to be treated
  • Respect officials and their decisions
  • Abide by British Cycling & Scottish Cycling policies
  • Respect the environment in which you are cycling, which includes members of the public, keeping to the highway code and respecting nature

  • Be positive – cycling is a fun sport!
  • Discuss race performances in a constructive manner, at an appropriate time

Behave Responsibly

  • Do not use inappropriate language or behaviour
  • Control your temper

Encourage

  • Encourage those around you, be it leisure cyclists or your competitors
  • Applaud all performances
  • Show understanding when people make mistakes, or if they don’t reach their goals
  • Show appreciation for officials, volunteers and your opponents

Everyone has the right to be respected, listened to, believed and treated fairly. By doing all of these things, we’ll protect the positive environment the Scottish Cycling community creates.

We all have the right to take part in cycling in a safe, positive environment, so please report any breaches of the code of conduct, in confidence and without judgement. Scottish Cycling, as your governing body, will ensure fair and equitable treatment, be that as an individual, club or event organisation. Nobody should suffer any form of abuse, and we’ll protect that right.
