Following on from a successful 2023/24 coaching recruitment campaign that saw 80+ coaches access funding through the sportscotland subsidy fund. Scottish Cycling in partnership with sportscotland, are delighted to announce the revised subsidy offer for coaches and leaders for 2024/25.
There are several key changes to the way subsidies will be awarded in the next year.
Key Changes:
- Key identified groups receive 80% off British Cycling Coaching Courses.
- These identified groups also receive 50% discount, up to £200, on mountain bike leadership courses, which candidates can redeem following the training day.
- Addition of support for coaches from Rural Scotland – to help support the growth of the sport in rural communities.
- The general subsidy for Scottish coaches has been discontinued.
In line with the Scottish Cycling Strategy ‘Developing a Nation of Cyclists 2.0’, this iteration of the subsidy will be aligned towards a select number of identified underrepresented groups in cycling across Scotland.
These groups of individuals include:
- Coaches from a rural location
- Coaches with a disability or working with riders with a disability.
- Coaches living in an area of deprivation or working with riders from an area of deprivation.
- Female coaches
- Young coaches (under 25)
This fund is one of many vehicles that will aim to inspire more diversity across the Scottish Cycling landscape by removing some financial barriers to entry.
