Job Opportunity: Club Development Officer – Falkirk Junior Bike Club SCIO

CONTRACT TYPE: 12 months Fixed Term. 10 hours per week 

SALARY: £12 per hour 

REPORTING TO: Club Chair / Head Coach – Falkirk Junior Bike Club

Scottish Cycling is the National Governing Body for cycle sport in Scotland. We are the voice of our sport and the largest cycling membership organisation in Scotland, representing the aspirations of our community.

Established in 2016, Falkirk Junior Bike Club has become one of fastest growing clubs in Scotland catering for youths. From the age of 4 to 16, riders wear our club kit with pride, attending club sessions, out cycling in the local area, or competing regionally and nationally across a range of disciplines.  

The club and Scottish Cycling are working in partnership with the principal aim of developing strong club structures to ensure the sustainable and well-planned growth of both the membership of the club and the volunteer team which underpins it.  

Through the new Scottish Cycling Accelerate and Activate Direct Club Investment programme, Scottish Cycling and the club are investing in a 12 month post – Club Development Officer. 

Job Purpose  

This new role is intended to be central to the development of the club. They will lead the development of the volunteer workforce and support the club to further build its capacity for new members.  

Key Role Responsibilities 

The Club Development Officer will be principally responsible for: 

  • Identifying ways to sustainably grow the membership of the club  
  • Volunteer recruitment and development  
  • Seek funding and develop projects that engage more young people in cycling  
  • Support the Girls Coordinator who will be focused on developing and delivering a Girls Cycling Strategy, focused on retention, growth and development of girls within the club. 

The Club Development Officer will work to a work plan which will be agreed by the Partnership Management Group. They will be required to provide quarterly updates and submit an annual report to all project partners. The Club Development Officer may also be asked to present their work at Scottish Cycling Club Development meetings and conferences to share learnings from the role. 

Details of the Post 

The post will be home based and the candidate will be required to use their own devices to undertake their work. 

Club sessions take place on Mondays 1830-2000, Tuesdays 1800-1900, Wednesdays from 1740-2015 and Saturdays from 0900-1200 in locations across Falkirk. The applicant should be able to attend these from time to time.
