Mennock Pass Stage Race
The weekend saw the second year of the Mennock Pass Stage Race organised by Torvelo Racing, the only National B stage race in Scotland.
A fantastic three stages of attacking racing incorporated a prologue win by Logan MacLean, recently selected to represent Scotland at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Game. Stage 2 was won by Ahron Dick of Edinburgh Bike Fitting RC and the hilly queen stage to Wanlockhead, the highest village in Scotland, where Noah Bleteau came out on top. The general classification came down to the wire, with bonus seconds coming into play. After leading overnight, Logan was just pipped into second place by Adam Hartley, returning to National competition for the first time since 2019.
You can read a full breakdown on both days of racing on The British Continental website here.
Torvelo Women’s Road Race
Millie Thomson (Solas Cycling) claimed victory at the Torvelo Women’s Road Race on Saturday after producing a perfectly judged ride on the demanding exposed moorland circuit. Having benefited from the strong team support throughout the day, Thomson timed her effort perfectly in the uphill headwind finish to take her second Scotia Series victory of the season, becoming the first rider to win twice in this year’s competition.
Kayla Dinnin (FTP–Fulfil The Potential Racing) crossed the line just one second behind after pushing Thomson all the way in the sprint, while Eve Fairbairn (Liv Cycling Club – Halo Films) completed the podium a further second back following another assured performance in challenging conditions.
This was the penultimate round of this year’s Scotia Series sponsored by Santini, and after this round there is only 5 points separating the top 3. Millie Thomson is in 3rd with 70 points, Izzy Filor is in 2nd with 73 points and Lydia Louw is leading with 75 points. It is all to play for going into the final round on the 26th July at the Pippa Handley Road Race – see here for entries.
Tour Auvergne-Rhone Alpes/Criterium du Dauphine
The terrain of the French Alps provided a stern test for riders this weekend, among those in action were Scotland’s Callum Thornley (Red Bull–Bora–Hansgrohe) and Oscar Onley (Netcompany Ineos), both of whom played significant roles as the race reached its decisive mountain stages, albeit with very different outcomes.
Thornley worked hard for his team in the breakaway on Stage 6 this weekend, helping to set the pace during a demanding day in the mountains. Onley showed excellent form, starting third overall heading into Stage 6. However, his race took an unfortunate turn when he crashed into a ravine on the final climb. Despite the incident, Onley courageously completed the stage, but after consultation with his team, chose not to start Stage 7 while undergoing further medical checks. We wish Oscar all the best in his recovery and hope to see him back on two wheels soon.
WHOOP UCI Mountain Bike World Series
Elsewhere in Europe this weekend the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup took place against the stunning backdrop of Leogang, Austria. Ella Conolly reinforced her status as one of the best Enduro riders with a strong second-place finish 24 seconds behind winner Winnifred Goldsbury. Fresh from winning the previous round in Loudenvielle-Peyragudes, the weekend’s result keeps Conolly at the top of the standings after two rounds.
In the Downhill competition, Reece Wilson (AON Racing) progressed through to the final to finish 18th, while Phoebe Gale (Orbea FMD Racing) narrowly missed out on a finals spot after placing 16th in qualifying. Full results across all the races can be found here.
UEC Para-cycling Road European Championships
It was an exciting few days of racing in Maniago, Italy at the UEC Para-cycling Road European Championships.
Fin Graham rounded off a successful campaign by claiming silver in the road race, delivering a strong and tactical performance to secure second place. Earlier in the weekend, he had narrowly missed out on the podium in the time trial, finishing fourth, just 6.01 seconds adrift of the bronze medal position. Callum Deboys produced solid performances across both events, earning a top 10 finish in the road race.
Sophie Unwin, piloted by Jenny Holl, enjoyed a strong weekend of racing, finishing second, just 0.75 seconds behind Ireland’s Katie-George Dunlevy and Linda Kelly in Friday’s time trial before bouncing back in Sunday’s road race to edge out the Irish pair to take gold and retain their road race title.
City of London Nocturne 2026
London town was calling this weekend as domestic cycling returned to the Square Mile for the London Nocturne.
In the women’s race, Kate Richardson (Handsling Alba Development RT) and Morven Yeoman (DAS-Hutchinson) played an active role from the onset, setting a fierce pace. The winding streets of London were unforgiving and as they hit the final corner, the race moved towards a sprint finish with French frontrunner Nina Lavenu leading the pack. Yeoman and Richardson both tried to come past in the finishing straight, but Lavenu stayed strong to hold them off and take victory, with Richardson second and Yeoman rounding out the podium in third.
The sun was beginning to set as the men’s race got underway, with Cameron Mason (Alpecin-Deceuninck Development Team) also delivering an explosive performance. The circuit saw Mason consistently lead on attacks as he remained in the leading group. His efforts were not in vain as he entered the final stretch maintaining pressure on with repeated surges, but was ultimately beaten in the sprint by Matt Bostock, finishing second overall.
Scottish Youth Circuit Series – Tulliallan
Round 3 of this year’s Scottish Youth Circuit Series took part this weekend with a strong performance from all.
The Boys A race came down to a sprint finish with Josh Stewart (Harrogate Nova) taking the win ahead of Gregor McNaught (Falkirk Bike Club) and Reuben McLardie (Johnstone Jets) completing the podium. In the Boys B race, three riders broke clear of the main group as the race was decided in a sprint, with Alexander Mullen (Falkirk Bike Club) taking first, Matthew Morran (Deeside) second and teammate Freddie Ball (Deeside) overcoming a mechanical issue to chase back on and finish third.
In the Girls A race, an early breakaway shaped the outcome, with Zara Main (Deeside) taking the win ahead of Millie Boothman (Glasgow Riderz) in second and Sarah McCormack (Edinburgh RC) in third. The Girls B race saw Eilidh Scally (Johnstone Jets) secure first place, with Boo Williams (Clydesdale Colts) finishing second and Isla Reekie (Falkirk Bike Club) third.
A massive well done to Falkirk Junior Bike Club for organising an excellent weekend of racing for all.
