On the lookout for Directors with legal and commercial experience, the governing body for cycle sport was also hoping to increase the diversity of its board. Both objectives have been successfully achieved with the appointment of Sarah Wylie and John Devlin, filling the two available appointed spaces.
Sarah Wylie, Counsel for Corporate Funds at Dentons LLP, brings extensive legal expertise, also sitting on the Law Society of Scotland’s sub-committee on Banking, Company and Insolvency Law. Sarah also brings experience as a chairperson, a role she undertakes for a local charity. Sarah has enjoyed cycling to all corners of the globe, and now enjoys cycling with her family – she’s also passionate about encouraging more people in Scotland to participate at whatever level is right for them.
John Devlin is Co-Founder and CEO of Ascensos, a technology and customer management outsourcing business which he started in 2013 before scaling it into a global operation and overseeing its recent sale in 2024. Alongside his executive role, John boasts an increasing portfolio of board and advisory positions across both sport and high growth businesses. One of these involved serving as both Director and Chairman within the Scottish Professional Football League gaining first-hand experience of governance within a sporting organisation — balancing financial sustainability, community impact and stakeholder expectations. John was recognised as EY, Entrepreneur of the Year for Scotland in 2021.
Whilst we are delighted to welcome two new Directors with additional skillsets, we place on record our thanks to Colin Edgar, Director of Communications and Governance at Glasgow City Council, who has taken the difficult decision to step back due to other pressures. We have no doubt we’ll still see Colin out and about on his bike, and at Friday night Track League.
