Clyde Cycle Park has been over a decade in the planning, and with site works now well underway for Phase 2, which will result in a 1km+ circuit, fully floodlit and raceable, we’re now commencing the planning for its full utilisation. We want to ensure that as soon as the contractors are off site, we can begin to make use of this fantastic new asset for the Scottish cycling community.
We are working in partnership with Clyde Cycle Park to explore with clubs the opportunities that this new facility presents for the cycling community.
There are two initial components that we are looking to progress, and hope that we can see happening at the circuit in 2026:
Weekly Development Cluster opportunities for Youth A/B and 2nd Year Youth C riders
What is it? Sessions designed to develop skills, fitness and race craft. Bringing together riders and coaches from a range of local clubs for 90 minute sessions on a weekly basis throughout the year for a development opportunity that aligns Club, Cluster and National Programme delivery.
What is needed to make it happen? The commitment of Coaches from across the clubs to contribute towards the delivery of a coherent and progressive coaching programme.
What support is available? Scottish Cycling will provide funding to kickstart the clusters for the first year, covering 50% of the hire costs of the circuit, and covering the costs of attending I2C or CIC Road Coaching courses for any aspiring / developing Road coaches. We will also support coordination and alignment of programme delivery.
Weekday evening racing opportunities for Youths and Adults
What is it? An agreed programme of races taking place on the circuit between March and September for both Youths and Adults on weekday evenings. Youths is envisaged to take place instead of the Youth development cluster that week, while Adults is ideally on a Wednesday or Thursday evening.
What is needed to make it happen? Volunteers from individual clubs to step forward as named organisers, and a collective grouping of volunteers to share the workload for running events at the circuit.
What does it look like?
For Youths, a 5-6 round series comprising of racing opportunities for Youth A-C riders, as well as opportunities for racing for Youth D/E when daylight/time allows.
For Adults, a 5-8 round series comprising of racing opportunities that could include any of the following: Female-only races, Master-only races, E/1/2/3 races, 3/4 races, 4th cat only races.
What support is available? Scottish Cycling will provide funding of up to £1000 in the first year of the series to cover the cost of event equipment which can be shared between the clubs running events at the circuit. Additionally, we will coordinate training for new event organisers, giving them the guidance and support required to run events at the circuit for the first time.
We’re looking to bring together folks interested in supporting the above towards the end of October for an initial discussion to commence planning for 2026, please intimate your interest via the form below:
