Rowe on red hot form at U23 Giro

Elliot Rowe (Team Visma | Lease a Bike Development) underlined his rising credentials as one of the best young road riders in the world as he finished a superb sixth overall at the Giro Next Gen, affectionately known as the Baby Giro, a race that has long proved a proving ground for would be road stars.

After a quiet start to the race, the Aberdeenshire rider, who has been named in the Team Scotland squad for the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games next month, took sixth on a lumpy stage five, before another top 10 the day later on a mountain top finish.

Rowe did his damage on stage seven the next day, scoring a sublime second place finish in the high mountains, just 3 secs off the win and bettering eventual pink jersey winner Lorenzo Finn. A 12th place finish on the final stage Time Trial would land the young Scot sixth overall on General Classification.

Rowe’s result is the best ever by a Scot at the Giro Next Gen, besting Oscar Onley’s ninth place finish in 2022.

Tour de Suisse

Lauren Dickon (FDJ United-Suez) continued to show the world her seemingly endless ability, as she goes from strength to strength in the World Tour this year. On the opening stage the Edinburgh rider scored a phenomenal second place finish, sprinting head to head against Femke de Vries for the win.

Dickson backed up her efforts with seventh on stage two, but unfortunately crashed in the finale of stage three, resulting in a broken collarbone and a premature end to her race. We wish Lauren a speedy recovery and hope to see her back in the mix for more podium finishes before the season is out.

Youth Tour of Kent

Zara Main (Deeside Thistle CC) flew the flag for Scotland on the south coast of England, a fine second place in the stage two criterium and third place on the Queen stage at the Lydden Hill Race Circuit saw her take fourth place overall on the General Classification.
