Glasgow GP
Saturday saw the first Scottish National titles of 2025 awarded with the Madison Championships, incorporated as part of the Glasgow Grand Prix at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome.
A dominant ride from Logan Maclean – fresh off the back of his antipodean training camp – and Ross Birrell, saw the duo take the gold in the Open event. A mixed team of Melanie Rowe and Reuben McLardie claimed the Youth Open event, with Millie Boothman and Zara Main claiming the Youth Female title.

Sunday’s racing saw the DernyFest – an exciting day of motorpaced racing. Results of that to follow.
CymruVelo Track Cup
Newport was the venue for the CymruVelo Track Cup, with a number of Scots heading down for the packed weekend of UCI-level racing.
Jenny Holl (Loughborough Lightning) rode to a hat-trick of second places in the Elimination race, Points race and the Omnium across the weekend. The Stirling rider will be aiming for success in the British Track Championships next month, where she aims to defend her Scratch and Points race titles.
There was plenty of Scottish representation and success in the sprint events, with Iona Moir and Lauren Bell both finishing on the podium in the Sprint – in second and third respectively. Moir and fellow sprinter Ellie Stone qualified for the competition with new personal bests in the flying 200 – breaking the 11 second barrier.
Great Britain Cycling Team new boy Lyall Craig scored a third place finish in the open Sprint competition, to add to his second place in the Team Sprint with his teammates at Glasgow Track Racing Club.
The Female Team Sprint saw further success with Lauren Bell and Iona Moir finishing first and second among Great Britain composite squads.
Junior rider Sam Martin (Beeston CC) impressed too in the junior events claiming a brace of wins in the scratch and points race, in addition to an eighth place in the omnium.
Cyclocross World Cup
The final weekend of racing before the World Championships in France, the double header of Maasmechlen and Hoogerheide, acted as the final competitive preparation for Arabella Blackburn (Trinity) and Cameron Mason (Seven Racing) before the season crescendo next weekend.
Another solid ride from Mason at Saturday’s event in Maasmechelen saw the British Champion ride to 12th, despite some bad luck along the way, before following that up with a 22nd place finish on Sunday. Sunday’s trip to the Netherlands also saw another strong performance from Blackburn, the junior rider coming home in 18th place.
The duo will be aiming for medal success (if selected) in the Mixed Relay on Friday at the Cyclocross World Championships in France – with the line-up for that event to be confirmed this week.
Linlithgow Cross
The fourth round of the Super Quaich series took place at the West Lothian Cycle Circuit with the Linlithgow Cross. Innes McDonald (Scotia Offroad RT) returned to racing after his broken leg last November with an excellent victory in the A race. Sam Chisholm (Team HUP) was a minute back in second, with Reuben Oakley (Rotor) completing the podium.
Scottish Champion Anna Flynn (Spectra) claimed the win in the Female event by over two minutes from Scotia’s Freya Mowbray, with Harriet Hendry completing the podium.
The event also doubled up as the Student Championships, with Flynn and Chisholm taking top honours. Results from the racing here.
Tour Down Under
Oscar Onley ( Team Picnic PostNL) was fully engaged in the general classification battle at the Santos Tour Down Under – the first World Tour race of 2025.
The Kelso rider impressed on stage two with a late attack on the final climb to Knotts Hill, but was passed by stage winner Javier Romo.
Saturday’s queen stage to Willunga Hill was the site of Onley’s first professional victory 12 months ago, and he nearly made it a double. Managing to drop race leader Romo, the Scot held on to the wheel of UAE’s Narvaez but was unable to come around the fast finishing Ecuadorian, coming home second on the stage.
That result would cement a fourth place finish on the general classification, just 15 seconds behind Narvaez, replicating his finishing position in 2024 – that sets up the Scottish climber nicely for another exciting season.
Challenge Majorca
The series of one-day races in Majorca has seen the first UCI racing in Europe in 2025. The races are an aperitif to the road season kicking off in earnest next month, and we saw two Lanarkshire natives starting their seasons in Spain.
Morven Yeoman (DAS Hutchison) came home in 41st at Sunday’s Trofeo Palma Femina, with Eilidh Shaw (UAE Team ADQ) making her debut for the Emarti squad in Spain, coming home in the same group.
