Scottish Cycling Awards open for nomination

Drumroll please… our 2024 Awards are open for entry!

Monday 2nd September marks the opening of the nomination process for the 2024 Scottish Cycling Awards, and you have three weeks to get your submissions in.

Our 2024 Awards ceremony will be held at the Inchyra Grange Hotel, Falkirk, on Saturday 16th November, and we’d love for you to join us – more on that later.

The 2023 edition took place at the wonderful Crieff Hydro as we celebrated the unforgettable 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships, the highlight of a wonderful year for the Scottish Cycling community.

World champions from Glasgow, Charlie Aldridge and Jenny Holl, scooped our Male and Female Athlete of the Year gongs, but there were plenty of other familiar faces making trips to the stage including Archie Johnstone, Kenny Steele and a 20 strong contingent from Elgin CC who were just a little bit happy to bag the Club of the Year crown.

But who will follow in their footsteps in 2024? Well, that’s down to you, our Scottish Cycling community.

Do you know someone out there in your club or local cycling group who deserves recognition for all their hard work? Or perhaps you know an athlete who is deserving of one of our athlete of the year prizes?

The Awards

The 10 awards up for grabs are:

Female Rider of the Year

Male Rider of the Year

Talent Coach of the Year

Community Coach of the Year

Club of the Year

Community Partner of the Year

Volunteer of the Year

Event of the Year

Breakthrough Rider of the Year (Braveheart Trophy) – decided by an expert panel

Moment of the Year – via an online vote, so watch this space!

The eagle eyed will notice two new awards for 2024. We have changed our Recreation Award to Community Parter of the Year, to recognise the growing number of partnerships that are vital in delivering and growing our sport. The second is the addition of a new award, the Moment of the Year, which will be decided by an online vote in October.

Without a nomination, your heroes won’t stand a chance of scooping one of our amazing prizes. Nominations must be no longer than 300 words, so aren’t too arduous, but must be submitted via the form below before the deadline on Sunday 22nd September (nominations close at midnight).

Last year, some 200 guests enjoyed our Awards Dinner, and celebrated with our Champions Drinks Reception, honouring our national champions from the last 12 months, a three-course dinner, before our Awards, an incredible raffle and a ceilidh to round out proceedings.

If you wish to book a full table of 10 then please email [email protected] with the subject line “Awards Table”.

We would encourage you to make the most of the day – which also includes our Conference and AGM – by staying over in Falkirk. The Inchyra has plenty of lovely rooms, and provides access to the pool, gym and star. There are also a number of budget friendly options within walking distance, or a five minute taxi ride, including the Premier Inn and Travelodge, so hopefully there is something for everyone.

Now it’s time to get your nominations in, and we’ll see you on Saturday 16th November, as we celebrate what has been another fantastic year for cycling in Scotland!
