Shortlists revealed for 2025 Scottish Cycling Awards

Big name stars such as Charlie Aldridge, Fin Graham, Katie Archibald and Oscar Onley headline the shortlists for the Scottish Cycling Awards, which also reward the great and the good of the cycling community.

Taking place at the Inchyra Grange Hotel in Falkirk for the second year running, the awards recognise those who make the sport happen on a daily basis, as well as the riders excelling on the international stage.

Last year Oscar Onley scooped the Male Rider of the Year, presented by HUPcc, and he is once again shortlisted following Tour de France success; he’s joined by Charlie Aldridge who won his and Scotland’s first ever MTB World Cup rounds in 2025, as well as para-cycling star Fin Graham who won the World Championship road race for the fourth consecutive year.

In the Female category, such was the level of achievement, the selection panel went with a four-strong shortlist. With a pair of World Junior titles and a World Record to her name this year, Erin Boothman is the youngest at just 18, while household name Katie Archibald is included following elite gold and silver at the World Track Championships last week. Lauren Dickson excelled in her first full season in the sport, success home and abroad leading to a World Tour contract, whilst Lou Ferguson made history in the being the first female to complete a Red Bull Hardline run.

Underpinning this success though are the coaches, volunteers and ultimately the clubs that support these riders on their journeys. Five outstanding clubs make the Club of the Year, sponsored by Digby Brown, shortlist; Hervelo, Johnstone Jets, Orkney CC, Trilogy CC and Ythan CC.

We have two coaching categories again this year, the first being Club Coach of the Year – an outstanding trio of Chris Main, Colin Chisholm and Stevie Nimmo make up the shortlist. This year we’ll also recognise a Young Coach of the Year – congratulations to Amelie Collins-Nimmo, Andrew Brewer and Callum McNicol for getting our judging panels’ vote at this stage – there can of course only be one winner on the night however!

Event of the Year is another hotly contested category, featuring a shortlist of four and they are the British BMX Series at Cumbernauld, the British Downhill MTB Championships at Fort William, the Gifford Road Races and Thank Crit It’s Friday.

We then have the Inspiring Participation Award, which recognises those who ensure we get more people on bikes, giving cycling a go. Big chapeau to Get On A Bike up in Moray, Women’s Hour in West Lothian and Colin Nicoll from Morrison’s Academy.

Finally, another new award for 2025 is Youth Rider of the Year presented by Joma, introduced to recognise the increasing level of success at Youth A and Youth B level, both at British and international level. Making the inaugural shortlist are road and track rider Melanie Rowe, Olivia Poole who represents the off-road disciplines and BMXer Ruby Warren.

We still have one final award, Moment of the Year, and that will be decided by a public vote next week, so watch this space!
