Support available for grassroots racing

As we look ahead to a packed season of racing in 2025, we’re delighted to announce a new package of support to encourage Clubs and Community Organisations to deliver grassroots racing opportunities across the disciplines of Closed Circuit (Crit), Dirt Crits (MTB XC) and Pump Track.

Grassroots racing forms the entry point of the sport, offering riders a fun and accessible environment to experience competition for the first time. With a focus on participation and enjoyment, grassroots races create pathways for riders to progress to higher levels of competition whilst also promoting the growth of cycling in communities across Scotland.

Whether you are an established club looking to branch out into new disciplines, or a community organisation involved in the activation of a facility, we are open to working with anyone who shares our passion for getting new people involved in the sport.

What’s on offer?

  • Two volunteers per organisation can access subsidised places on Introduction to Coaching qualifications to allow them to deliver coach-led racing
  • We will provide a grassroots event starter pack, providing new organisers with everything they need, including: course stakes and tape, lap board, number boards and more!

In return for the above, we are looking for partners to commit to the delivery of four events, one of which we will come and lead, giving new organisers the opportunity to gain experience and confidence before going it alone.

Grassroots events are focused on creating opportunities for young people to get involved in the sport, and primarily this year we want to focus on riders in the Under 8 / Under 10 / Under 12 age categories.

How to get involved

Let us know via the form below what discipline you are interested in running events in and where you are proposing that the activity takes place. We’ll get back in touch within two working days to kickstart a conversation about what this looks like and what level of support you’ll need to make it happen. There are limited spaces available, so even if your idea isn’t fully formed, get in touch and we can discuss.
