2023 Scottish National Track Champs: What you need to know

It’s set to be a full-on weekend of racing at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome as Scotland’s best track riders battle it out at the Scottish National Senior Track Championships.

It’s the final Scottish National Championships of 2023, and this event follows on from an incredible year of racing at the Emirates Arena, with the unforgettable UCI Cycling World Championships in the Summer.

More recently, our younger riders have had the opportunity to compete in the Interregional Championships and Scottish Youth & Junior Track Championships, both delivered by Kenny Steele and the Johnstone Jets. Track League goes from strength to strength, providing fun weekly competition and development opportunities.

None of these events could take place without the support of the fantastic officials, riders and volunteers that make up the wonderful Track community in Scotland. The discipline is on a positive trajectory, with growing number of participants and some standout events on the calendar – we are incredibly grateful to those individuals that are the driving force behind it.

Please join us in thanking those volunteers over the weekend, without whom this event would not take place.

How can I watch?

The spectator area is open and tickets are on sale for the nominal cost of £3 per day – and you can purchase them here. More information can be found in our Spectator Guide. Doors open at 1&:30 on Friday and 9:00 on Saturday and Sunday

We are pleased to share that we will be operating a multi-camera live stream – which will show the best bits of Saturday and Sunday’s racing action. The stream can be found on our YouTube Channel from Saturday – which you can visit here.

What is the racing schedule?

Friday’s track action will kick-off from 18:00 and will be completed around 21:00. Racing on Saturday and Sunday starts from 09:40 with racing aiming to finish around 17:30 on Saturday and 18:30 on Sunday. These timings are subject to change.

Our race manual has the running order and the startlists for every event, and can be found here

Access for riders and coaches

Riders will be permitted to bring one helper into track centre only who will be issued with a wristband at the sign-on desk. Additional helpers wristbands may be purchased at the cost of £3 per day. Helper passes and rider wristbands will also enable access to the stands, unless they are close to capacity. Only a small section of the stands will be open for the duration of the event.
