Junior
Kayla Dinnin (Liv Cycling Club – Halo Films) crowned a perfect weekend as she added two further national titles to the two that she had won 24 hours previous, making it four from four for the Dumfriesshire rider.
Riding both the Junior Female Kilo TT and the Points race she showed her rivals a clean set of wheels, her kilo time of 1.17.44 some three seconds clear of her podium contemparies Eva Murphy (Deeside) and Abigail Chaplin (Solas).
In the Open races, Beeston CC would take home both the titles; Sam Martin winning the Kilo and Evan Marsh the Points race. Vanelli-Project Go rider Colin Johnston would show his versatility with a pair of runner-up finishes.
Youth A
Zara Main (Deeside Thistle) would enjoy a weekend for the ages, the Aberdeenshire rider adding a further gold and silver to the trio of medals she won on day one. The gold and Scottish title would come in the Youth A Female Sprint, a commanding performance seeing her get the better of Eve Fairbairn (Discovery Juniors) in straight races. That result would be reversed in the Scratch race where the Dundee rider would come out on top, after that duo and Millie Boothman (Glasgow Riderz) lapped the rest of the field not once, but twice!
In the equivalent Open race, Fraser Gemmell (West Lothian Clarion) would snag the triple crown, the Scratch title his third of the weekend. On this occasion he bested regular rival Andrew Levinson, with his Edinburgh RC teammate Hamish Hayes rounding out the podium. Notable mention must go to Melanie Rowe (Deeside) too, as she finished in fifth place.
In the Open Youth A Sprint Micah Myles (Edinburgh RC) and Archie Whittemore (Clifton CC) would go head to head for gold, Whittemore eventually coming out on top.
Youth B
The same names that prevailed on Saturday would do so again in the Youth B category, however this time Eilidh Scally (Johnstone Jets) would get the better of yesterday’s winner Femke McKenna (Glasgow Riderz) taking the Female Scratch & 500m Scottish titles, with Josh Stewart (Stepping Stanes) once again winning on the Open side in the Points & 500m.
Once again, a big thank you to all of our volunteers – whatever their role – for making the event happen, a fitting prelude to Volunteers’ Week, where we’ll be shining a light on some of those unsung heroes.
