Pedal Power to support Scottish Cycling through 2024

Scottish Cycling is delighted to announce that Scotland’s premier independent bike shop, Pedal Power, has come onboard as a principal partner for 2024.

The West Calder based shop already does so much to support cycle sport in Scotland, with this formal partnership recognising an increase in investment, and reaffirming their commitment to the cycling community that they serve.

With almost 50 years of history, the shop has gone from strength to strength over the last two decades under the ownership of Jonny McBain, his team supporting cyclists of all abilities and disciplines through their extensive store and trusty workshop.

For Scottish Cycling it is the perfect partner, one that will support the organisation in a number of ways, from youth racing, to it’s Annual Conference & Awards. At the centre of the partnership is a desire from both parties to grow their support for the Scottish Cycling community.

Of the partnership, Jonny McBain, owner of Pedal Power, said:

“We are extremely proud to be working alongside the national governing body for cycling. As an independent bike shop, working with Scottish Cycling will give us an added kudos as we look to provide an even better service for cyclists in Scotland.

“Over the next 12 months we’ll offer the Scottish Cycling community a 15% discount on non-sale items, as well as running a number of limited time only discounts. We’ll also be supporting the Youth Tour of Scotland in April and the Braveheart Cycling Fund at the Scottish Cycling Awards, as we did in 2023.”

Nick Rennie, Chief Executive of Scottish Cycling, added:

“Pedal Power are the perfect partner for Scottish Cycling – the connection is so natural and together I really think we can increase the support we give to our cycling community. Johnny and his team have supported riders of every level for decades now, and by working more closely we think we can add extra value for our members, and the wider community.”

European Cyclocross silver medallist, Cameron Mason, who has been supported by both Pedal Power and Scottish Cycling during his career, commented:

“Both Scottish Cycling and Pedal Power have been a huge support to my career, both playing vital roles in helping me reach the level I’m at now, where I have turned professional and can compete for international titles. Seeing both organisations now working together, for the good of the sport, can only be a good thing!”

Pedal Power can be found online and in-store at their West Calder HQ, so if you need a new bike, accessories or your bike needs some TLC, you know where to go: https://www.pedalpower.org.uk/
