In 2025/26, the programme delivered more than 5,000 participation opportunities across Scotland, engaging people from a wide range of communities and backgrounds. The programme is reaching individuals who often face greater barriers to sport, with 43% of participants identifying as female, 46% identifying as belonging to a ethnic minority group and 35% living in the most deprived SIMD quintile.
Rock Up and Ride is about more than simply getting people on bikes. Through access to bikes, skills sessions and fun, game-led activities, it creates welcoming environments where people can build confidence and discover cycling at their own pace. Whether it’s a first ride, rediscovering cycling or taking the next step towards active travel, the programme helps make cycling feel possible and enjoyable.
The latest evaluation, carried out in partnership with the University of Strathclyde, explores the stories, experiences and impact behind the programme, highlighting how inclusive and enjoyable cycling opportunities can help remove barriers and support positive behaviour change.
Rock Up and Ride is made possible through the support of Transport Scotland and Scotland’s Regional Transport Partnerships, with 2025/26 funding from Nestrans, SEStran, Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT) and ZetTrans.
