Friday’s Short Track saw Innes McDonald (Scotia Offroad RT) steal the show, claiming victory in the Junior open event just a mere two weeks after breaking his wrist.

There was further success for the Scots with Olivia Poole (Deeside Thistle) taking the win in the Juvenile field.

In the senior field, Anna Flynn (Spectra Racing) and Grace Inglis (Saint Piran) claimed silver and bronze, respectively.

Olympic

Sunday’s Olympic event saw some excellent performances from the Scots and a number of trips to the podium.

Grace Inglis (Saint Piran) stormed the first lap of the senior female race and looked to be well ahead, before Annie Last caught the Scot in the closing stages. Inglis came home taking the silver medal, another excellent performance from the Scot.

Fellow Scottish Champion in the senior open event, Lewis Martin (Studio Velo) came home in fourth – a strong ride.

In the U23 event, Sam Chisholm (The Cycling Academy) showed his strong form on return from injury last weekend on the road, with victory at Black Loch. The form continued to show on the mountain bike, with an excellent ride to silver.

In the female U23 event, Anna Flynn (Spectra) duplicated Friday escapades with silver. Emily Carrick-Anderson (T-Mo Racing) took a well-deserved bronze on her return to racing from injury.

Junior Daisy Taylor (Solas) claimed silver, as Freya Mowbray (Scotia Offroad RT) won the Youth title, with teammate Daisy Wilkinson in fourth.

Olivia Poole doubled up in the Juvenile category, after an excellent season on the British cross-country series.

Zach Buchan (Pentland Racers) won silver in the open Juveniles, with trips to the podium for Guy Rorke (Peebles CC) and Josh Buchan (Pentland) in fourth and fifth respectively.

British DH Champs

Rhyd-Y-Felin in Wales was the venue for the LloydsBank British Downhill Championships with a number of Scots fighting for British honours.

Heather Wilson (Muc-off Young Guns) continued her fantastic debut season in the junior ranks by adding the British bands to her extensive palmares in 2024, the Scot claimed the victory in the Junior Female event in Wales by 27 seconds from Lacey Holmes (Lanark RT).

The senior female saw a tight battle for the medals with Mikayla Parton (BNC Racing) and Lou Ferguson (West Highland Wheelers) taking home silver and bronze in the Welsh mud.

In the open categories, Danny Parfitt (BNC Racing) came home in third place in the junior open, with Reece Wilson (Trek FR) the top Scot in the seniors in ninth place – in a very stacked field, full of talent.

Tour de France

Oscar Onley finished his first Tour de France on Sunday after completing the final time trial into Nice.

The Team dsm-firmenich PostNL rider was on the attack on the final week of the race and was in the break on several occasions, which included a marvellous fifth place on Stage 17. The Scot came home 39th on the general classification, and 10th in the Best Young rider classification.

It’s been a strong debut Tour by the young Scot, who may look to the LloydsBank Tour of Britain, which starts in his hometown of Kelso for his next taste of racing action.

Scottish BMX Series

Sunday saw Round 7 of the Scottish Regional BMX Series with 70 riders in action, fortunately the racing at Clydebank was uninterrupted by the weather.

Massive thanks to Western Titans for organising, and to the officials and volunteers for putting on a great event. The final round of the series is this Sunday at Broadwood.
