Juniors on track
Scotland’s best junior riders were in action in at the Next Gen Sola Track meet in Norway with several impressive performances.
There was Scottish domination in the men’s team pursuit with first and second going to the two Scottish quartets. Ahron Dick, Struan Shaw, Evan Marsh and Fraser Corfield clocked a 4:13,993 over 4km, in the final against their compatriots of Colin Johnston, Brodie Duncan, Sam Martin and Zach Barbour.
A British squad with Scots Erin Boothman and Arabella Blackburn claimed the win in the women’s team pursuit.
Individual events also saw more tartan-tinted trips to the podium. Boothman breaking the Scottish record by three seconds on to take the win, with Ahron Dick producing a storming ride on his way to the victory in the 3km pursuit – with a time of 3:23.214 enough to claim top honours.
The bunch events were not short of more podium visits with Erin Boothman victorious in the tempo race and scratch race.
Colin Johnston rode to a strong second place in the elimination race, with Struan Shaw just behind in third – the Airdrie rider also finished in the same position in the points race.
In all a very successful trip for the Scots juniors across the North Sea, which should hopefully provide the riders a perfect springboard for the rest of the winter track season.
Kobenhavn Three Day
Sticking in Scandinavia, Neah Evans was victorious at the 3-days of Copenhagen in the Danish capital.
Evans won out in the individual elimination race, as well as the 200 lap madison, riding with Great Britian teammate Josie Knight, with the duo lapping the field to take an impressive victory.
Cyclocross
It can’t be November without some scintillating cyclocross action and that is exactly what we have.
Coming back from a break, Cameron Mason (Cyclocross Reds) rode to his first top ten of the season with a ninth-place finish on Saturday in Rupchen in the Netherlands.
Sunday’s X2O Trophy meet in Lokeren at the Rapencross saw Ishbel Strathdee (Team HUPcc) impress with 19th place.
Today (Monday) saw the Superprestige race in Niel – the 62nd running of the famous Jaarmarktcross.
Strathdee produced another impressive performance, on a course that can only be referred to as quagmire, or a connoisseur’s cross course, with the Scot coming home in 16th place. Mason, still building up for the UCI World Cup to start in December, came home in 18th place.
BMX Championships
The Scottish BMX Championships took place on Wednesday at Broadwood BMX Track in the Cumbernauld.
