15 projects to benefit from new women and girls funding

We are delighted to confirm the successful clubs in the second round of the Women & Girls Direct Support Fund, supporting 15 inspiring projects that will help more women and girls get involved in cycling across Scotland.

Following the strong impact of Round One, this latest round continues to address the participation gap by empowering clubs to deliver creative, community focused initiatives spanning BMX, MTB, road, gravel, cycle speedway, and recreational cycling.

From women only coaching sessions and school outreach to confidence building workshops and new ways for riders to get involved, clubs across the country are bringing forward practical ideas that help break down barriers and create welcoming spaces for female cyclists of all ages.

Combined with the funding committed earlier this year, this takes the total funding invested into clubs in 2025/26 to support women and girls’ activity to over £23,000 across 24 clubs.

The clubs awarded funding in Round Two are:

  • Western Titans BMX Club: Running a female only BMX coaching day with Bethany Shriever MBE to help more girls and women get involved and build confidence on the bike.
  • Elgin Cycling Club: Offering traffic free coaching sessions to help women develop skills, boost confidence and learn more about getting into racing.
  • KICC: Setting up a female saddle library so women and girls can find comfortable options and feel more confident on their bikes.
  • Falkirk Junior Bike Club: Increasing their female coaching team and supporting more girls to join the club and try grassroots racing.
  • Glasgow Cyclones Cycle Speedway Club: Starting weekly women and girls speedway sessions, backed by dedicated kit, maintenance and coaching support.
  • The FNY Collective: Running a series of women’s MTB taster sessions to welcome new riders and support teenage girls getting into mountain biking.

  • Garioch Road & Gravel: Growing women’s participation through maintenance workshops, and new ride leader opportunities.
  • Forth Velo: Supporting more women to get into road racing through targeted coaching sessions and opportunities to build race experience.
  • Clyde Cycle Park: Working with local schools to bring teenage girls to the park for fun, confidence building cycling sessions during the school day.

Scottish Cycling congratulates all the successful applicants and looks forward to seeing these initiatives come to life throughout 2025–26, helping build a stronger, more inclusive future for the sport.
