Tarn joined the organisation in Summer 2022, and instantly got immersed in the planning for our extensive activation programme associated with the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships. The Ride the Worlds programme, which culminated in over 4000 participants in engaging in grassroots competition and provided the opportunity for the stars of tomorrow to compete at World Champs venues, provided a wealth of valuable learning which has been embedded in our approach to developing the sport over the last four years.
From his previous role at British Cycling as a Competition Officer, Tarn brought extensive sport and system knowledge, which has been integral to the progress we have made on a number of fronts in the last four years, particularly in developing a greater insight into the data which underpins our sport, allowing us to understand the health of our disciplines, and work in partnership with organisers to adapt and overcome challenges in the sport.
Throughout the implementation of the Domestic Events Strategy, we’ve sought to engage with the community, through our refreshed Commissions, our engagement with Associations and on the ground out at events, Tarn has made a wide-ranging contribution to our successes and achievements on all these fronts.
Refreshing and developing the Youth Tour of Scotland, including putting it on a sustainable financial footing, developing relationships with two new disciplines in Enduro and Gravel and working across teams in the business to develop grassroots racing are just some of his notable achievements during his time with Scottish Cycling.

As we now start our recruitment for the next Events Manager, we are sure it is evident that this is a wide-ranging role, with the real potential to have a significantly positive impact on growing and developing the sport in Scotland.
