Over the last few weeks we’ve been announcing a number of national championships and British level events taking place north of the border next year, but here’s a broader look at what’s in store in 2025.
At a Championship level we already have a great spread of events, from the MTB XC down at Ae Forest, to the Downhill at Glencoe, and from the Olympic TT in Angus to the the Omnium in Dundee. Our National Series are also looking incredibly exciting, with full series confirmed for Downhill, XC, Road (Alba & Scotia) and the Youth Circuit Series.
Stepping up to British level, it’s phenomenal to see the British Downhill Championships will be heading to Fort William – kudos to the SDA team – whilst we’ll see two rounds of the Youth Omnium series in Scotland, at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome and the Mark Stewart Velodrome respectively. There will also be XC action at both Glentress and Kirroughtree.
Complementing all of this will be an array of regional and grassroots level racing, in what at the time of writing looks like a very healthy calendar.
A huge thanks to the event organisers, clubs and volunteers who have put forward their event plans and worked with us to form what we think is a well-rounded calendar, with competitive opportunities for all types of rider.
Coming Soon
We are in the final stages of confirming the Senior Road, Vet Road and Criterium Championships, and also have interest in the Hill Climb Championships; the latter will be confirmed when we look at next winter’s Cyclocross, Hill Climb and Track calendar early in the new year.
In the meantime, there are a number of Scottish Championships that are yet to be fully confirmed, which are listed below. If you are interested in running any of these, please get in touch with [email protected].
- Junior Road Race Championships
- Team Time Trial Championships
- 25 mile TT Championships
- 100 Mile TT Championships
There is still space for other events in the calendar, if you’re interested in putting something on, whether you have a clear idea in mind or can see an opportunity and don’t know where to start, get in touch for a chat via the email above.
We would like to highlight a couple of funding opportunities, that may enable you to try new initiatives and make an idea a reality:
British Cycling Accelerate – The Sustainable Events & Activity Fund: Accelerate – The Sustainable Events Fund
Scottish Cycling Regional funds, available for innovative projects addressing some of the challenges faced in the sport: Regional Sport Development Fund (covers Tayside and Fife, East & Central, West and South-West).
All these events will be appearing on the BC calendar here over the next couple of months, but for now all that’s left to say is see you at the races in 2025!
