Alba Series set for Gifford green light

With the first round of the Alba Series – the Gifford Road Race – taking place this Saturday (15th March), we thought it would be a good time to give an update on all things series related.

Saturday’s race at Gifford will see a full field in the Alba Series event, as well as the Regional B support race with the Female race also boasting a healthy number of entries. It’s set to be an exciting day of racing in East Lothian. Full timings can be found here

For those unaware, The Alba Series aims to provide National level road racing for our top domestic riders, as well as an enjoyable and inclusive racing atmosphere. Each event is listed as a National B event by British Cycling, which are open to riders holding Elite, 1st, 2nd and 3rd Category riders.

The Gifford Road Race incorporates Round 1 of the four round series.

The subsequent rounds are taking place on:

Scotia Series

Following closely after the first Alba Series event is Round 1 of the Scotia Series. This is a female only series that aims to provide a positive racing environment and cater for the current demographic of female riders in Scotland.

The Scotia Series races are usually around 70km (36 miles) in length and are listed as Regional A events, which means they are open to 2nd, 3rd and 4th category female riders. First time racers can enter these events, and with the first race in June there’s plenty of time to get your training planned!

The Scotia Series dates are as follows:

With this year’s series comes a few changes to the regulations. You will find a full copy of the 2025 Alba / Scotia Series regulations attached, but below we will highlight the main changes in comparison to last year:

Series Points

All rounds will now be counted towards the final series rankings. The allocation of points to the top 20 riders will remain the same (see full regulations for points breakdown).

Club Competition

All rounds of the series will count towards the club series competition. A club will be listed in the overall club series competition rankings when they have greater than two riders at a minimum of three rounds of the series.

If you have any queries on any of the regulations changes, please first refer to the FAQ document that is attached. If you do not find what you are looking for there, don’t hesitate to get in touch with the events team at [email protected] .
