The first change is that our Club Development Coordinator roles will cease on the 31st October, instead replaced by three new posts; two Youth Development Officers, and one Club Development Officer.
Our two Youth Development Officers will work with a focused number of youth clubs to support them in building upon their strong foundations, with a view to evolving their club structures to grow capacity and develop their offering for existing members.
These new roles will:
- help increase the number of grassroots events on the calendar, in collaboration with the Scottish Cycling events team
- grow the youth cycling club network, by continued implementation of our New Clubs Plan
- support the development of cluster activity between clubs, in collaboration with the Scottish Cycling performance team, to increase the number of opportunities available for riders
Each Youth Development Officer will have a defined number of areas that they are responsible for working in. Kate Jackson, who our community in the Borders and East & Central will know, will take up one of the Youth Development Officer roles.
We are now commencing recruitment for the second Youth Development Officer post, with the role descriptor and person specification available below.
The new Club Development Officer role will work with a focused numbers of adult clubs to support them in developing their offering for their members. Additionally, they will work with established and emerging regional groups to foster collaboration between clubs, usually focused on enhancing their regional events offering. This role will also lead on the Limitless disability programme, working closely with British Cycling to ensure its continued success in Scotland. Neil Wilson will move into the Club Development Officer role. These changes take effect from 1st November.
Ruth Wright, one of our Club Development Managers, will take on additional responsibility for women’s projects, and our partnership with SAMH through Bike and Blether, whilst Jamie Taylor’s role as Club Development Manager (Children and Young People) remains unchanged. Jamie will continue to lead our young people’s programmes and the continued rollout of Mini Riders. Fraser Johnston’s post as Head of Clubs and Events also remains unchanged.
Thanks to Ewan McArthur and Julie Harris for their efforts over the last three years. Ewan vacated his post two weeks ago to take up an exciting new opportunity with Scottish Squash, whilst Julie leaves us in the coming weeks.
